Luke Podbury began his career as a Wealth Advisor in Washington DC before spending five years advising high-net-worth clients at one of the world’s largest investment management firms.
Originally from Australia, Luke is drawn to a coastal beach lifestyle and has found himself right at home in San Diego since relocating in 2019. He has greatly enjoyed becoming part of the community in both a personal and professional level.
Luke joined the Canter team in early 2023 and is looking forward to continuing to assist individuals and families with their financial planning goals. Developing strong and trusting partnerships with his clients is extremely important to Luke and keeps him fulfilled and motivated to provide the best experience possible.
Luke graduated from Deakin University in Victoria, Australia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance & Accounting and is currently pursuing his CFP® designation. In his spare time, Luke enjoys traveling. Following university, he spent a year living in Chiang Mai, Thailand where he volunteered at a number of NGOs and took the opportunity to explore many countries in South East Asia. On the weekends, you can usually find him at the beach, trying a new restaurant with his wife, catching a live sporting event, or playing pickleball with friends.

With over fifteen years of experience in the wealth management industry, Mike Bernier presently serves as a Senior Wealth Advisor for Canter Wealth, where he helps clients achieve their goals using prudent financial planning.
Prior to joining Canter Wealth, Mike was a Senior Advisor at one of the fastest-growing financial planning firms in the country, managing over $200 million in client assets.1 His experience in personal finance enables him to develop strategic approaches in the areas of tax strategy, investment management, retirement, and estate planning.
Mike graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University’s College of Business Administration with a major in Financial Services. Based on his achievement in the program, Mike was recognized by Beta Gamma Sigma, The International Honor Society for Business Excellence. Following his lifelong passion for knowledge, Mike chose to pursue and complete all the requirements necessary to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner.
Mike teaches retirement adult education courses at colleges across San Diego. He has been featured on CBS, KFMB, KRLA and was previously a co-host on a local financial radio show for many years.
During his free time, Mike is an active member of the Aztec Athletic Foundation and enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole and three children, Grant, Wesley, and Charlotte.
